Clayton Sato Commits to San Francisco State University

“It’s my pleasure to share that I have verbally committed to San Francisco State University! I’d like to thank my mother for everything she has done for me, for all the sacrifices she made over the years and time she has given up to help me achieve my dreams of playing soccer at the next level. If it weren’t for her love and support I would not be where I am today. Thank you to all the coaches I’ve had, from my big sister, Emerisa, to Matt McDougall. I have learned so much from Matt in the short time he has been my coach. He has taught me not only about soccer, but about having character on and off the field. He has also helped me tremendously throughout the college recruitment process. I can’t thank him enough for all he has done for me. I am so grateful for all the memories I have made with my teammates, there are ones I will never forget. Thanks guys. I am very excited for next year at San Francisco State with Coach Ayala-Hil and would like to thank him for the chance to come into his program. Go Gators!” —Clayton Sato

Riley Terando Commits to MIT

College Bound_Riley Terando_2017

“I am extremely excited to announce that I have committed to play soccer at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)!  I would first like to thank my Placer teammates throughout the years who have pushed me to become the player I am today. My growth would also not have been possible without the coaches who have influenced me throughout my five years at Placer: Gene Duchateau, Ron Benjamin, Bart Morefield, and Todd DeCarlo. I appreciate all of the time that they have invested in me, helping me improve as a player and grow as a person. Another thank you to my parents, who have sacrificed their free time and money to help me achieve my dreams. Lastly, I would like to thank my goalkeeper coaches: Matt Scammacca, Matt Bernard, and Matt McDougall, as well as all of the goalkeepers who have trained alongside me within our little family. You guys have always made keeper training something I look forward to, and it will definitely be something I miss next year. My path to college was not easy. I did not have the ability to commit to MIT based off my soccer ability; I still had to get into the school. Only after receiving my acceptance was I able to say that I was committed. This is why I also would like to thank all of my teachers at Vista del Lago. They have understood the tough time I had balancing my academics with soccer, and were always willing to help me if needed. They helped me meet the requirements for MIT that were unrelated to soccer. Being able to say I’ve achieved one of my biggest dreams is one of the greatest feelings in the world. I look forward to continuing my education, as well as my soccer career next year under Coach Desmarais. Roll Tech!” — Riley Terando

College Bound_Kyle Kellogg_2017

“I’m excited to announce my verbal commitment to Montana State University, Billings. It has always been a dream of mine to play soccer at a collegiate level for such a great school. I’m honored to be able to follow in the footsteps of one of my mentors growing up, Trevor Wildberger. Trevor taught me to “Never give up and keep fighting” and that’s exactly what I plan to do at MSUB. He is greatly missed and is always in my mind whenever I step out on the pitch. I want to give a huge thank you to my family for always supporting me and pushing me to do my best. My soccer experience never would have been possible without all of you. I also want to thank all my coaches I’ve had at Placer United the past 10 years. Especially Paul O’Brien, Matt McDougall, Todd DeCarlo, and Gene DuChateau—who have helped me along the way. These coaches have taught me all that I need in order to be the best player I could be with the best techniques and fundamental skills. Thank you to all the teammates I’ve had throughout the years for always supporting me. I can’t wait to take the next step in my life and continue my soccer career at Montana State University, Billings. Go Yellow Jackets!” — Kyle Kellogg

Ryanne Chapman Headed to Folsom Lake College

2016_College Bound_Ryanne Chapman

“I’m extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to Folsom Lake College. First, I would like to thank the people who helped me get here. To my parents, I would like to say thank you a thousand times over for doing literally everything for me. From providing a loving and caring home, to driving me to every game and training. Both of you have always been there for me and I can’t express how much all of it means to me. To my sister who I’ve always been able to come to when I’m struggling with any and every aspect of my life, you’re one of my biggest role models. I strive to be just like you everyday. To all the coaches who have ever put their time and faith in me. If you take the time to get to know me as a player, you’ll find out that I need a coach that pushes me with expectations but also encourages and lets me know when I do something well. I found the perfect combination of everything I need in Coach Todd DeCarlo. From the moment I came to play for Placer United under Todd, I knew I had found the perfect place and the best coach for me to develop as a player and a person. My soccer vocabulary consists almost exclusively of Todd sayings due to my three years under him. I can’t thank you enough for all that you’ve done for me, Todd. All the foot skills, work ethic, and determination to be better than I am in that moment came from the instruction I received not only under Todd, but also coaches Ron Benjamin and Gene DuChateau. Ron, although I never had you as my own coach, you’ve still always been there to offer advice and establish a relationship with me and every player. The keeper training I’ve received under Gene was absolutely amazing. I was given all the tools to become the best player I can be with the greatest technique and it’s those fundamentals that have carried me this far.

Thank you to all of you for helping me achieve my athletic goals. I would also like to thank the coach who kept me going strong in the face of adversity. Sanaldo Carvahlo is one of the greatest keeper trainers I’ve ever had the privilege of working with. He ended up being my Todd when I wasn’t with Todd. Thank you so much for putting faith in me when no one else did. One last thank you to my amazing strength trainer who got me back on my feet after a devastating injury. Conor “Conrad” Foley made a broken leg no big deal. He exposed me to the field I want to pursue and I’ve never been physically stronger. I can’t believe I’m finally going on to the the next level in my soccer career. I’m going to play college soccer, and that is amazing. Thank you so much Donny for seeing a little special something in me. I can’t wait to get started. Go Falcons!” —Ryanne Chapman

“It is hard to make choices that may change our lives for the better—to make choices that would move us further towards inner satisfaction.”  Catherine Pulsifer

“Upon my graduation, I have selected to play collegiate soccer for Fresno Pacific University. FPU is a small, private university where I can study Sports Management/Kinesiology and get to know many students and make friendships in a smaller close-knit environment.

I have played soccer for twelve years, and through those years, my coaches have taught me to always give 110% during practices and games and how to be a better soccer player on and off the field. A big thank you to my first coach Danny Cruz for picking me out of the bunch and taking me to comp soccer; thank you to my high school coach Mary Claire Robinson for believing in me and giving me the nudge of confidence.  And lastly, thank you to all of my Placer coaches, Chris Alcala, Gene DuChateau, Bart Morefield, Todd DeCarlo and Ron Benjamin.

The most exciting part of college soccer is my new FPU coach Rob Podeyn. Coach Podeyn brings an abundance of experience to help me take my soccer to the next level. He has a long resume of coaching at the elite level in the US, Netherlands and with the Brazilian Women’s National U17 team. He has also just released his sixth book on coaching soccer.

I’d like to thank my family the most because they helped me get to the level I am today as a soccer player and as a person.” — Ariana Avila, Placer United 98G Gold
