Placer United Girls Teams Excel at AJAX Fall Invitational in Modesto
Five Placer United teams travelled down to Modesto this past weekend to participate in the AJAX United Fall Invitational.
Three of five Placer United teams made it all the way to the final and we have not one, but TWO Champions.
The U13 White won the championship yesterday afternoon. They started off the tournament with a 0-2 loss to West Coast Wildfire but then went on a 3-game streak to claim the title. They beat Argentina FSC 3-0 and then beat the host AJAX Elite 1-0 on penalty kicks. In the final, the girls defeated Novato United 2-0.
The U15 White won the championship as well, winning all four of their games. They defeated North Bay Elite 2-0, Bullard United 2-0 and Manteca 5-1. In the final, they battled the Cal Blues to a 2-2 draw and then won the title in penalty kicks.
The U12 White made it all the way to the final after three consecutive wins. They beat East Bay United 4-0, West Coast Wrath 4-2 and AJAX Elite 2-0. In the final, the girls were upended by a talented Cal Odyssey squad, 5-1.
The U14 White had a great weekend with one win, one loss and one draw. They drew with the Turlock Tornados 2-2, beat FC Sporting 4-0 and lost 0-2 to Barcelona.
The U10 White also had a great weekend with one win and two narrow defeats. They lost the opener to Barcelona 1-0, rebounded with a 5-1 win over Central California Soccer Alliance and lost a nail-biter 3-2 to the Turlock Hurricanes.
Congratulations to all of our teams on a great weekend!
Placer United Players Support TOPSoccer League
Thank you to Placer United Soccer Club for hosting the kick off of the new Placer TOPSoccer league on Friday September 14th. Over 30 new registrants joined in for Wembley format play. In addition, thank you to Lukas Wehner for coordinating the event and to all of the other Placer United players who participated as “buddies” including Chase Goulart, Sydney Talmi, Felipe Zegarra and Rowan Vining.
TOPSoccer is designed to meet the needs of children with physical and/or other special needs. It targets those kids ages 4-18 who would like to play soccer, but are challenged by the traditional soccer environment, including those kids with physical supports and wheelchairs. Registration for the program is ongoing. For registration questions or to participate as a volunteer visit www.pysltopsoccer.com.
Message to the Members of Placer United Soccer Club
With the Labor Day weekend upon us, our kids back in school, and older boys on break from Club soccer to represent their high schools, I know most members are not waiting on the edge of their seats for another communication from the Club about non-soccer items. Trust me, I get it.
However, we have had several members request disclosure of the minutes from the July Board meetings so they better understand some of the recent club challenges. Out of respect for those requests, the minutes of the July 17th and July 23rd Board meetings that were approved last night in a Special Closed Meeting have now been posted to the website and can be accessed at this link: Board Minutes
At this same meeting last night, as you might guess by the fact that I am communicating to you as the new Board Chair, we reorganized the Club officers as found here. The Board leadership is committed to moving the Club forward and to being the most competitive club working to produce the most talented soccer players in Northern California.
I believe my mandate is to represent the vast, silent majority of members in this Club who care less about soccer politics and just want the best competitive soccer experience for their kids who play for a Club that aspires to be the number one soccer program in the region. I hope this is the last email I have to send about these side issues and that we’re ready to move forward again.
It is an honor that the Board selected me for this position. I assure you I will never forget that no one brings their kids to Placer United Soccer Club because of who is on the Board or is the appointed Board Chair. We are about our DOCs, our coaching staff, our training programs, our facilities, and our complete soccer environment.
If you ever have questions, comments or concerns that you think I can address, please email me at jeff@flintfamily.com or call me at (916) 320-9574. I will respond as quickly and best as I can, though I will likely refer you back to your coach, or to one of the Directors of Coaching, if your question is soccer-related.
Thanks for being a part of our Club. Go Placer!
Jeff Flint
Board Chair
