Tons of laughs were shared and some tears were shed at the Placer 2015 Grad Night party held at Woodcreek Golf Club. The first annual event was a massive hit with the 54 graduating student-athletes, their parents and coaches. The night kicked off with an introductory speech by Director of Soccer Operations, Paul O’Brien, who thanked all the players and families for their huge contribution to the soccer club over the years. A heartfelt thank you was given to Mark and Maureen Fereira who put in a ton of work organizing the event.
Coach Paul then handed the mike over to Placer’s very own Johnny Carson, Director of Coaching Ron Benjamin, who kept the crowd entertained with some very funny one liners.
Ron handed out some special scholar awards:
“Nothing to Snicker At” for students with a 3.0 – 3.5 GPA
“Good Payday” for students with a 3.5 – 3.99 GPA
“Mega Smartie” for students with a 4.0 or above GPA.
Individual acknowledgments went to players who regularly travel over 200 miles a week to attend training and games:
Team Valedictorians:
Team Salutatorians:
All of the players received a Placer United Graduation Diploma and a Placer United Class of 2015 t-Shirt.
The evening concluded with Coach Paul recognizing significant years of dedication to the club by players who had been at Placer United for over six years:
7 Years Players
8 Year Players
9 Year Players
10 Year Players
And last, but not least, a very special mention to the “King of all Georgies”, Mr. Scotty Walsh, for eleven years of dedication and loyalty to Placer United.
Good luck in your future academic and professional endeavors Class of 2015!
